Insects Created from Human Hair

Artist Adrienne Antonson created some realistic insects using human hair. The Seatlle based artist used hair of her own, close friends and family members for her hyper-realistic bug sculptures.

Her unique art involves a meticulous process of assembling human hair and glue for giving realistic shapes to these fascinating insects. According to Adrienne Antonson, her art is purely inspired by the bizarre behaviors, the complexity and evolutionary developments of the insects.

"As an artist with a deep interest in sustainable and self-supporting systems, human hair seems the most immediate and true material. I find the historical implications and various uses of human hair fascinating. I am also intrigued with the attraction/repulsion response the material evokes. It is sentimental, challenging and honest." as explained by Adrienne Antonson(1800recycling.com)
