Japan's New Trend: Baglehead


Getting a deformed forehead is a popular trend nowadays in Japan. The extreme body modification technoque makes them look like creatures from another planet.

  Baglehead has got worldwide attention when it was featured on National Geographic's Taboo program. These extreme body modification involves large needles inserted into the forehead skin and saline is used through the needles that accumulates under the skin creating a bulge that can be pressed with the thumb to give a bagel shape.

  The trend was first brought to Japan in 2007 by photographer Ryoichi "Keroppy" Maeda after seeing the bizzare practice at a show in Toronto.

 The bagelhead is a harmless procedure as the saline injected is gradually absorbed by the body within 24 hours.
