Researchers from Rutgers and Mount Sinai Hospital have designed a prototype blood-drawing robot to take samples from patients.
The blood-sampling robot can effectively take blood samples than medical professionals. The robot will be used to draw blood samples from patients who do not have visible veins. This will reduce the risk of infections or any unnecessary complications. The robot features a built-in ultrasound tech to guide the placement of the needle and with the help of this technology medical professionals will not have to rely on the ultrasound machine to see veins that are not easily visible.
The robot was able to take blood samples at a success rate of 87% for 31 participants and took blood samples quickly, safely and reliably. (via)
