The Mamoris Earthquake Helmet can be used as a shield.
This is the furniture-turned safety gear developed by hippie industrial designer Kota Nezu from Znug Design. The name of Mamoris is derived from the Japanese words “protect” (mamoru) and “chair” (isu) and is designed to protect users in the event of an earthquake or other natural catastrophe.
An elegant helmet is fitted at the back and bottom of a standard chair. The user can use a 90-degree dial switch when emergencies occur to cause the chair to remove the seat and give the element immediately when a natural disaster happens. The stylish and truly robust disaster-protecting helmet chair provides protection for your head and neck, plus back support for your seat as well. (Via)
