CubiOs Inc’s WowCube is the winner of the CES 2021 Innovation Awards.
WowCube is a cube-shaped device invented by the father-son team Savva and Ilya Osipov. It has four color IPS screens on each side, eight microprocessors, and an accelerometer hidden inside. Like Rubik’s Cube, users can twist it along multiple axes, thereby constantly changing the way the screens align with each other.
With the accompanying iOS/Android application, users can load different games into the device via Bluetooth and change the animation display on the screen in the process. The cube-shaped device allows games to be played with a combination of twisting and shaking.
Games including word games, jigsaw puzzles, maze games, and arcade-style have been developed for the device. However, it does provide an open API for third-party developers who want to create their own games. Also, it can be used in non-gaming applications to display information such as time, date, and weather.
The Rubik cube-inspired device measures 70 x 70 mm on each side and weighs only 335 grams. WowCube is integrated with a 4,320 mAh lithium-ion battery that can be used for up to 8 hours on a single charge. (Via)
